What it is


Tart cherry extract is derived primarily from Prunus cerasus (sour cherry) and is rich in polyphenolic compounds, particularly anthocyanins. These compounds are responsible for many of its observed antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.


Unlike stimulant ingredients, tart cherry does not directly increase perceived energy. Its role is supportive, helping the body manage the physiological strain that accumulates during prolonged physical activity and inadequate recovery.



Mechanism of action


Tart cherry’s biological activity is largely attributed to its anthocyanin content. Anthocyanins act as antioxidants and influence inflammatory signaling pathways by reducing oxidative stress and modulating enzymes such as cyclooxygenase (COX), which are involved in inflammatory responses.

Tart cherries contain naturally occurring melatonin and may influence circadian regulation, contributing to improved sleep duration and efficiency.
